Fun Cousins

So these pictures were in March, but I just uploaded them to my computer and they are so adorable!

Look how chunky she is! I love that a two year old is wearing a Tankini! We have a Family reunion in July and we will be able to see them again! I can't wait, family reunions are truly my favorite and it will most likely be the highlight of my summer!

So today while my mom was asleep I was supposed to take care of my little brother Matthew and his friend, Bryce Christiansen. I love these two boys, they are so entertaining. They were trying to launch the watermelon with their spoons. It was hilarious. Yeah Summer days....and watermelon....

I am With Permit

So about a month ago, my mom and I drove to the DMV in Hurricane (it makes no sense to me why it is in Hurricane, I mean the place is microscopic and way far away from civilization), none the less, we finally got there. There was much anticipation as we got out of the car. I was there to take the driving permit test. In Utah, you have to have your permit for at least six months before you can receive your license. I had heard terrible stories of people failing the test...which also means you fail life. I had studied the handbook, and it ended up paying off! I got 90% on my test. The questions that I missed were about farmers and soldiers and army members in other states. As I don't plan on being either, I feel pretty good about the test. Still my mom wouldn't let me drive home. But once we got home, the entire family got in the Rodeo and we went for a drive for about an hour. I had three people telling me instructions, advice, opinions, and random nonsense (that part was Matt, the rest my loving mother and father). Overall, it went pretty well.

Since then, I have driven quite a bit. And if I do say so myself, I don't think I'm half bad! I'm sure some are smirking at this comment, but oh well. About a week ago, my mom presented me with a key to the rodeo. I have to admit, that having a key gives a strange sense of power! So of course I find some keychains that I want to use. I also admit that the ratio is off: 3 keychains to 1 actual key, but I felt that it was needed. In comparison, check out my mom's key ring! Those are some serious keys. When she tosses them to you, it is like hurling a spiky weapon at someone. Anyways, getting off subject. I like driving, I think it is really fun to be able to get myself somewhere. I still am not allowed to drive on the freeway, but my mom thinks I'm getting close.

Also an update: I'm out of school! I am now officially a sophomore, and go to Snow Canyon High school! I'm really excited for this next year. Yeah summer!

Almost!

Tomorrow is my last day of my Freshman year. Overall, it has been a good year. There were some crazy days, but tomorrow that will all be over! Parts of this year have gone so slowly, but the past couple of weeks have flown by! I am most definitely ready for a break. Summer here I come!!!

Gottta love strict English Teachers

So right now, I should be in English. However, I was told to leave my classroom. I absolutely love my English teacher. She teaches me so much about the world, not just English. But at this moment, I'm not very happy. We have been reading this book about the middle-east and we were now going to watch a movie about it. Unfortunately for me, I forgot to to bring in my parent permission slip because it is rated PG13. I forgot this because it is my beautiful sister's birthday (Happy 10th B-day Meggie, You are the best). Most teachers would hurry and let me call my mom to receive permission. However, MY teacher won't, even though I'm one of the few who have actually completed this assignment. But I must say she is the best teacher I've ever had, even if she is extremely strict! So here I am in my school library because I didn't turn in my permission slip, with nothing to you but to rant to fellow bloggers. Happy Tuesday...

Student Council: A very late thank you!

This is extremely late, but I do want to thank everyone who ended up helping me with student council ideas. I ended up photo shopping an ipod and making a "taylist" instead of a playlist, and inserted my own picture where the artist's should go. I felt pretty cool having my own ipod. I put them on my posters and said "Add Tay to Your Playlist!". It ended up pretty fun, and I was pleased.

This is a picture of me goofing off when my mom was taking a picture of me. I've decided that I don't like when it is just me in a picture, way better to have other people with you.

Well I feel like I have the coolest family ever, because everyone really loved their ideas and it was a big hit. However, I was rejected by the student body and was not made the sophomore class secretary. Although I'm extremely disappointed I really had fun campaigning, thanks again everyone!

I'm running for Student Council! I'm running for the sophomore class secretary (I know, pretty intense). So I need a fabulous slogan/an amazing campaign idea. I can't think of anything spectacular. I need help, if any one has any brilliant, or not so brilliant ideas, please let me know!

More Haiti Pictures

While in Haiti, they were able to take some of the kids who had been adopted to Florida to meet their families. They were all put into this C-17 for the trip to the states.

These are a bunch of babies who all just take their naps together on blankets.

I'm kind of jealous of my super-hero dad! I want to help those amazing kids too.

We were obviously devastated when we heard about the earthquake in Haiti. I think everyone wished they could do something immediatly to help out and make a difference. My dad recently got a new job. He is the Director of the WADE Family Foundation (which is a new foundation, so he is basically starting it). The Foundation is based on service and helping others. On the morning two days after the earthquake, my dad said that the foundation was going to get involved with Haiti and possibly go to Haiti to actually help there. After a crazy week, of things being cancelled, and then going through, Dad left for Haiti the Thursday after the earthquake. He definately had some crazy, dangerous, life-changing, and incredible experiences. Here are just a couple pictures from his trip:

This is one of the little baby boys that my dad fell in love with. His name was Fransou.



Isn't she Adorable?




This is the first of two orphanages that my dad went to. When the kids saw my dad, they would all cling to him and say, "Papa?". He would say to them his name was Monty. They would then ask, "Papa Monty?" It makes me want to just give them all a huge hug.

A toast to Lauren Taylor

I have a fantastic cousin named Lauren Taylor. For those who don't know her, she is a fun, hilarious, beautiful, crazy, and amazing girl. This post is for you Lauren Taylor. Thank you for being my best follower. I love you and hope to see you soon.

Trip to the Windy City

On my birthday, I opened a present saying that the entire Magleby family was going on a trip to Chicago for my aunt Ashley's Baby Shower. We were going to surprise. We had a total blast. One day we went into the city with my cousins, Grace and Ella. We went the American Girl store, had Chicago pizza and went on a water taxi, and saw lots of Chicago sites.

Ella, was determined that her little "Kona Kitty" (they bought her in Kona Hawaii) was in every picture taken the whole day. She is so adorable. This picture was taken on the train ride going into the actual city.

This was Matt's first time being in a big city. He really had a fun time.

Halloween

Even though Halloween was almost....forever ago, I still need to include it in my blogging.
Megan was a very cute 50's girl and now loves to wear her hair in high side pony tails. To my mom's relief and joy, Matt wanted to be a soccer player. This was a great idea considering that he already has a soccer uniform. We got to a late start in carving pumpkins--about 5:00 pm on Halloween to be exact. I wasn't in much of a carving mood, so I decided to paint mine instead. It was pretty fun.

Matthew's Birthday

On October 24, Matt turned 6 years old! And boy, did we know his birthday was coming up or what?! He tried to get out of jobs all week by saying, "Well, I don't have to do jobs because it's my birthday this week." We were told by him that he wanted breakfast in bed, he didn't have to do jobs, and he wanted to help make a cake. He woke up and had waffles and eggs in bed. We then went to Matt and Meg's soccer game. Matt wanted pizza for his dinner. He was also very specific on the fact that he wanted us to have a treasure hunt to find his presents. So Megan and I hastily made a treasure hunt where the presents were found in mom and dad's shower, the outside stairs, the toy closet, and the baking center. Matt had a total blast. As we were preparing for his cake, we realized that we didn't have any candles, but that we had a "2" candle, and a "4" candle. We put them both on because they added up to 6. Matt thought it was funny, to our relief. When I asked what his wish was, he said, "I wished that we could be together as a family forever." I don't know if my birthday wishes have ever been that eternally minded! He also got some cool presents: GMA and GPA Callister gave him a really cool R2D2 that is remote control. From GMA and GPA Magleby, he got a light saber and a Luke action figure. Mom and Dad gave him Lincoln Logs.
He loves them all. Happy Birthday Matt.

Matt's Science Project

Yesterday, Matt came to me in a depressed sort of way. He tells me that he has always
wanted to to a science project and every year, he hasn't been able to do one.
He then does a very dramatic sigh. I take pity on the poor kid and the lack of science in life,
and tell him that I'm in the middle of my homework but, will do a project with him in 30 minutes.
This is not what Matthew had in mind. He started protesting
in a rather annoying way, and being the babysitter with mom gone, I came up with the "rainbow", because I knew it would be quick and easy. He was pretty excited and liked the different colors. It is amazing how kids can be so content with something so simple! The first thing he said after his "Science Project" was finished was, "Tay, can we please put this on your blog?!" He was very eager (He loves seeing pictures of himself), so I complied. Hooray for food coloring!!

Big Salt Lake Trip

Last weekend, we drove as a family to Provo and spent some time with Magleby cousins and grandparents. We had fantastic time. We also dropped off my mom to the airport to take a trip to Chicago, Kirtland, and Palmyra. After dropping her off, us kids plus dad, and a Salt Lake City excursion. I've been and toured Salt Lake numerous times, but strangely, Meg and Matt have not seen more besides the temple. My dad and I were able to show them all of the significant church buildings. We also drove past the capital building (or as I called it when I was little, "The Utah Building"). We then joined with the Taylor family to go to dinner at Tucanos. It was very good and slightly over whelming to have all different kinds of meat brought to you every five minutes. After the dinner, we rode city tracks. This was Matt's favorite part of the day, and he was so excited to ride the train. We rode to Gateway to get hot chocolate, and back to our car. We then drove to our hotel where we crashed utterly exhausted. It was a fun day!
